Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja

1970, entered a primary Italian fine wines and spirits import company.

1977-1982, CEO of the Italian branch of the French group Remy Cointreau. (cognac Remy Martin, Cointreau, champagne Krug, Piper, Charles Heidsiek, Malibu, etc.)

1983-1994, CEO of Antinori ( the largest Italian fine wine company).

1995-1996 strategic consultancy for the wine sector of the world-wide distribution of Remy Cointreau Group, consultant to Frescobaldi and other primary Italian wine companies.
For Frescobaldi one of the first assignments was the negotiation with the Robert Mondavi corporation for the Luce della Vite joint venture, now a very successful brand owned by the Frescobaldi group.

1995 to 2002 Member of the Board of Directors of the Gancia Finanziaria, holding company of the Flli Gancia Spa di Canelli (top sparkling wine producer)

End 1996 CEO of Frescobaldi.

December 1999, CEO of Ornellaia&Masseto in Bolgheri, following the first investment of Robert Mondavi in the company.

2005 Frescobaldi group CEO, following the acquisition and consolidation of the 50% of the companies Luce della vite and Ornellia&Masseto, from the Robert Mondavi corporation.


Born in Florence in 1945, from a family of Scottish (Geddes) and Florentine (da Filicaja) origin, the Italian ancestors have been influential in Florence since the 13th century, one of the Anglo Florentine families which have contributed to knitting close ties between UK and Florence.

Married to an English/Swedish wife with two daughters, aged 38 and 34.

Studies of economic at the university of Florence.
